  • Chemical Attack

  • Anthrax Attack

  • Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)

  • Pandemic Outbreak

  • Natural Disasters

  • Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI)

  • Mass Care/Sheltering

  • Family Reunification

  • Joint Information Center (JIC) / Joint Information System (JIS)

  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Activation

Based on our extensive crisis management planning, training and “real world” response experience, our experts have helped design and conduct numerous workshops and training sessions to include tabletop, functional, and full scale exercises.  This training has prepared first responders, department heads, top officials, and executive management in dealing with man-made incidents and natural disasters.  We have worked with key stakeholders across the country to include schools, business offices, special event venues, hospitals, military units and local, state and federal public safety agencies.

SECURITY TRAINING & PLANNING

Security training and planning can address Active Threats by using results from the Security Assessment to identify vulnerabilities and address them through modifications to security plans and training on those plans.  Training can be used to evaluate how everyone responds to potential threats including those from an Active Shooter.  Based on the lessons learned from training sessions, security plans can be revised as needed to better prepare everyone for a "real world" incident.

ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING

ACTIVE SHOOTER SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS

Participants will learn about and discuss various types of threats using case studies of actual incidents involving Active Threats/Active Shooters.  Many of these incidents involved “insiders” who were current or former students or employees.  Therefore, discussions will highlight the benefits of having a Behavioral Assessment Team that can take steps to conduct an assessment and recommend intervention where needed to help prevent an escalation to violence against the school or business.  Strategies for reaction to an Active Shooter will be discussed to include “Run, Hide, Fight” or “Alert, Evade, Barricade, Fight, Support” or other strategies to mitigate casualties during an incident.  The ultimate goal is to provide an environment for discussing key issues involving threats from an intruder (possible “insider”) which participants can utilize to protect themselves and others through subsequent updates to security plans, equipment and training.

ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILLS & EXERCISES

Smaller drills that involve only a school or business can focus on training elements associated with reaction to a threat such as Alert/Notification; Evade (run/hide); Barricade (lockdown/lockout); Fight (improvised weapons/team approach); Support (assistance to law enforcement to help locate and neutralize the shooter).

Tabletop, functional, and full scale exercises can be used to discuss, plan and execute training that incorporates numerous scenarios to help everyone prepare for as many types of threats as possible including multiple attackers using various types of weapons and tactics.  Tabletop exercises will focus on group discussions of threat scenarios with key decisions that should be made and actions that should be taken.  Functional exercises will focus on the use of security systems and/or equipment in response to a threat while a full scale exercise can incorporate role players (victims and terrorists) and first responders (law enforcement; fire; EMS).

TERRORISM PREPAREDESS - COMPLEX COORDINATED TERRORIST ATTACK (CCTA) TRAINING

Our team of professionals can provide Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack (CCTA) training involving Active Shooters, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Hostage Barricade situations at multiple attack sites. Training will include first responder contact team deployment and target acquisition.  First responding officers conduct tactical actions to locate, contain, flank and eliminate Active Shooter threats.  At the request of Unified Command, additional support from SWAT, Bomb Squad and HAZMAT personnel will deal with IEDs or other hazardous materials/devices and implement Hostage Rescue operations based on scenario elements incorporated into the training.

Law enforcement will work together with Fire-EMS in “warm zones” as Rescue Task Forces to triage, treat and evacuate gunshot victims to Casualty Collection Points and transport them to medical centers for treatment.  An additional training component can be added that requires units to operate in a HAZMAT environment using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and manage the time on scene.  Emergency Operations Centers are also key stakeholders in training and exercises incorporating alert notifications, crisis management, resource management, public information, social media management and family reunification.  Area Command can be incorporated for multi-site incidents where limited resources from mutual aid support must be prioritized for deployment.

Our Lead Project Manager for Training and Exercises is a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Certified Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) Train-the-Trainer Instructor.  Our key professionals are also certified instructors for advanced NIMS-ICS course instruction.
